From Lightning Ridge to the World

Fade To Black was born of a legacy and deep connection to Australian opals. All stones are ethically sourced from Lightning Ridge and Queensland, with production overseen by founder Tatiana's father, Mario Ikasovic — a world-renowned gem cutter with over 40 years of masterful expertise.

His unparalleled precision has made him the top opal supplier to the world's most respected jewelers and fashion houses. Polishing, cutting, and setting is all done in-house without outsourcing, guaranteeing complete control over the quality of each piece.

"We've built relationships with miners over generations — ensuring fair pay and first selection of the world's most prized gemstones, from mine to market."

Tatiana Ikasovic

Tatiana grew up between worlds. The daughter of Mario Ikasovic, one of the foremost opal cutters in the industry, she spent her childhood moving between Sydney, New York, and the mining fields of Lightning Ridge — learning to see beauty in the most unlikely places.

After studying film in NYC, she returned to her roots with a new perspective. Fade To Black is the result: a studio that pairs her father's 40 years of gemstone mastery with her own eye for minimal, modern design.

Her work is informed by contrasts — the brutal landscape of the Australian outback and the elegance of fine jewelry, the patience of traditional craft and the instincts of a storyteller. Each piece is personal, intentional, and made to be worn for a lifetime.

She currently lives and works in Los Angeles. Read more in JCK Magazine →

Crafted with Conscience

Each piece is handcrafted with materials made to last: natural Australian opals, fair-mined diamonds, conflict-free gemstones, and solid 14k and 18k gold. We source as close to the earth as possible, cutting out middlemen to keep prices fair while maintaining the highest quality.

Ethical Sourcing

Direct relationships with miners ensure fair wages and transparent supply chains from Lightning Ridge to our studio.

Minimal Waste

Our artisans work around the natural shapes of stones and produce made-to-order to minimize overproduction.

Low-Impact Mining

Opal mining is small-scale and minimally invasive. Miners refill sites and plant trees — within years, the land regenerates.
